EVENTS

On the 4th February 2015, Julie Bindel, representing NAWO, the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations, and Eaves for Women will be launching the Safety Compass press pack; a guideline to responsible reporting on trafficking and prostitution.

The press pack will be an opportunity for journalists to access quality, up to date resources produced and compiled by experts in both the women’s sector and media sector. It is intended to ensure that professionals within the media report on issues related to trafficking and prostitution effectively and within a responsible framework.

Included in the press pack is new research from Washington State Coalition against Domestic Violence, the National Union of Journalists, Eaves for Women, Dart Centre Europe and many more, all of which will be accessible on the website after the launch.

A panel will discuss the press pack, trafficking and related issues. Speakers include:

  • Julie Bindel, Journalist, Activist and Author (the Guardian, New Statesman)
  • Annette Lawson OBE, Chair of NAWO
  • Lynda Dearlove, Founder and Director of Women@theWell

If you are a journalist reporting on these issues, or a professional working in the sector, and would like to attend the event, please email intern@nawo.org.uk to join us.
